On February 6, the MOSAIC Community Clinic (MCC) officially opened in the Edmonds neighborhood of Burnaby, offering culturally safe and trauma-informed primary care for priority populations.

To learn more about the services that the clinic would provide, CJSF interviewed Dr. Baldev Sanghera, a family physician in Burnaby, the medical director of the PrimeCare Medical Centre and the Edmonds Urgent Care Centre, as well as one of the lead physicians involved with designing the the MOSAIC Community Clinic.


Dr. Baldev Sanghera received a King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of his outstanding community service and physician leadership through his roles as a family doctor in Burnaby, physician lead for the Burnaby PCN, founding board member of the Burnaby Division of Family Practice, and longtime FPSC committee member as a Interior Health region representative.



Family doctor Baldev Sanghera says corporations offer the health care equivalent of fast food, but not all patients will notice. ‘If the only thing that’s been advertised to you is McDonald’s, then that’s a great meal.’

Dr. Baldev Sanghera says being a family doctor should mean long-term relationships with patients and an understanding of their needs and challenges.
‘There’s no corporate bent on it.’
